Since the very beginning of this brand becoming SHITIKA STUDIOS, I always had a strong and admiring connection towards certain colours. I, myself, am drawn towards earthy colours in my everyday life. Which naturally progressed into the brand, and now I want to dig deeper and share my thoughts, some facts and feelings towards why these colours are significant to me and how they shape my jewelry.

Colours of:

Green — growth, balance & connection

Psychologically, green is strongly associated with nature, growth, renewal and balance. Because humans evolved surrounded by vegetation, green can also feel familiar and reassuring. Research in environmental psychology has found that exposure to green and natural environments can be associated with reduced stress and greater feelings of restoration.

Green feels like a colour that is always becoming. Never completely still, never completely finished.

I think I am drawn to green because it carries the quiet energy of growth—the reminder that beauty does not always have to announce itself.

Green is where I find a sense of balance: somewhere between the wild and the familiar.

Blue — calm, depth & introspection

Blue is psychologically fascinating because it is often associated with calmness, trust, stability and introspection. Softer blues can feel peaceful and spacious, while darker blues can evoke depth, seriousness and contemplation.

Blue has always felt like a colour with somewhere to disappear into.

Perhaps I am drawn to blue because it holds space for the unknown. It doesn't demand an answer; it simply asks you to look deeper.

There is something comforting about a colour that can feel both infinite and intimate.Blue reminds me of distance—the space between what we know and everything that remains undiscovered.

Brown — grounding, warmth & belonging

This colour isn't necessarily an exciting colour at first glance. It is a colour that reveals itself through texture, material and light.

 

Brown is perhaps the most grounded of the three. It reminds me of where things begin: beneath our feet, in the soil, in the rawness of materials before they are transformed.

I love that brown doesn't try to be perfect. It carries traces of earth, time and touch.

There is something deeply human about brown. It feels warm, tactile and familiar.

Before gold becomes jewellery, there is earth. Before an object becomes precious, there is material.

I believe my attraction to these colours is less about colour itself, and more about what they represent. They remind me of the natural world in its most imperfect and beautiful state—a world of shifting forms, unexpected textures and constant transformation. And perhaps that is exactly what I want my jewellery to hold.

 

These earthy colours have become an important part of my jewellery design, reflecting my fascination with nature, organic forms and contemporary Scandinavian jewellery.
