IN OTHER WORLDS

IN OTHER WORLDS is a project inspired by the combination of function and fantasy. My aim is to present movement within the static formations. A slight deceptive property to the eye where these formations create an illusion of movement, by presenting elongated shapes that blend into a metal construction. The soft skin absorbed by the strong matter. These objects are made from a combination of handcrafted metal constructions and 3D milled recycled plastic. The combinations evolve into sculptural objects with a free-flowing spirit, mimicking aerodynamic properties and to some extent visualising speed.
The recycled plastic is a combination of different plastics fused and melted into slabs for more larger projects. However, I was lucky to receive some of the waste material by Norwegian Trash to give them a new life. Realisation of these hybrids comes by drawing and specialising on external automotive elements, bringing out their streamlined forms. With these characteristics I draw, repeat, mirror, and layer to build compositions. This is where the 2 dimensional and drawn shapes begin to grow from their separate parts and combine to create a configuration- ready to be evolved into 3 dimensional objects.
